What nail polish colors look better on longish nails?

February 8th, 2010

Okay I don’t have claws or anything but my nails are definitely not stubby or short. I’ve been sticking to neutrals and French Manicures, but what actual colors would look nice on medium nails?

Fall colors that are very cute right now, shades of lavender, deeper pinks, and brown tones like toffee or carmel look very good.
It really depends on the type of makeup shades you wear too if you are trying to keep an overall look. But do like I do and go with whatever you think looks good on you. They are your hands and you look at them the most :)

what are the best false nails to use?

February 8th, 2010

just want sum glue on fake nails (manicure style) that dont look really long and tacky and that stay on. any advice?

Nailene has a really short sporty version that look quite cute. None of them stay on really well though, because they often don’t match the shape of your own natural nail beds.

Have you ever done your own acrylic nails with a kit…??

February 8th, 2010

I wanted to do my own acrylic French Manicure using a kit from "Sally Beauty Supply" this is the kit:
http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/3310/156370
It is not sold online so it has no price…How much do these kits sell for…??

Have you ever used a kit like this -or- ever done your own acrylic nails at home….what are your stories good or bad..and do you reccomend it…??

please help any advice or answers are Appreciated….

Thanks
Thanks for your stories but what about the price…PLEASE

Well, I am a licensed Cosmetologist/Instructor and have taught Nails for over 4 years. And first you should know that the link does not work anymore, so I could not see the kit that you are considering buying and using.
But, I have been in local Sally’s here and they usually do not carry the better lines for acrylic nail products.
So just so you know that. The problem with some of the sub lines is that they are harder to work with and usually have a problem turning yellow.
You do get what you pay for when it comes to nail products.
Also, let me tell you, I have done my own acrylic nails for years. And it takes some major practice. It also helps to have a really good brush. Not some cheapy one, but a really nice nail brush. Otherwise, you will have a hard time controlling your acrylic.
You will have lumps in the beginning. Alot of lumps, big ones. So make sure you have plenty of files, as you will be filing forever.
And your smile lines (where the pink and white come together) are going to be way off for a while.
I would suggest practicing on some tips first to get the feel for the product.
And use clear on yourself at first so that you will not be unhappy with the pink and white.
When you practice on the tips, practice doing your smile lines.
And also work on NOT getting this stuff on your skin.
Not only is it hard to file on or super near the skin, but you can get an allergy or skin condition from it.
So practice, practice, practice before actually doing it on yourself.
Then go from there, and good luck!!!

How long should a ProfessioNail French Manicure last?

February 8th, 2010

I had a French Manicure done yesterday at ProfessioNail at Westfield Strathpine. The whole experience was quite weird in that it was like being served by a mute, the girl didn’t speak to me the entire time, just guided my hands around like she couldn’t speak, and now 24 hours later almost all of the white tips, on very finger, have chips in them. Is this normal or did I get a cr*p manicure?

Crap manicure!
My first time, mine lasted about 3 weeks, almost a month!

Some places are just horrible. The ones I got, the white wasn’t even straight, and the white was thicker on some finger nails. I will NEVER go back there. Lol.

Why alot black neighborhoods allow this?

February 8th, 2010

Why alot black neighborhoods allow this?
my family and i live in a majority black area of atlanta i noticed for the longest that many asians mainly korean, vietnamese, and indians own alot of businesses here and they act like they dont want you there.for example many koreans own beauty supply stores which i no longer make purchases are very rude, many now own urban wear shops with a no return policy, nail salons where they speak their native tongue around customers then have no issue saying the price in english(again i no longer get manicures from asian shops), many also own grocery stores with rancid smells in them and high prices.then many asian indians are also disrespectful at the gas stations either making sexually obscene comments/flirting about women and agian being rude to customers.this doesnt happen if at all in white communities.so why some blacks choose to take this

very good question and i believe that blacks need to open their eyes to that amongst other things. i too have stopped shopping at such stores. and its not that black owned businesses are unsuccessful its that nothing is handed to us by silver spoon like every other race. if we got something we had to do more than our share and pull more than our own weight to get it where as other races get visas when they come and a fresh new start. all handed to them. and i don’t consider welfare assistance to blacks because everyone knows there are way more whites on welfare than any other race. this is not a reason not to pursue dreams and step up but by all means stop going to those damn stores!!!!!!
